By Jeff GellesMay 05, 2018 04:21:49A new hybrid electric car, the Focus, will be unveiled at the 2018 Tokyo Motor Show in 2019.

While Focus and Honda’s new electric sports car, dubbed the Acura NSX, will compete against each other in the 2020 Japanese Le Mans Series, Honda says its electric sporty car will be a step ahead.

“We’re aiming to make a truly competitive sports car and to offer people the opportunity to experience a new level of luxury,” Honda Motor America President and CEO John Butler told Reuters in a statement.

The Focus will be powered by a 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine, a powertrain designed by the Japanese company Kodo Motors.

“The Acura team has been developing the Acurata platform since 2016 and is working hard to ensure the NSX can match the Acuras performance,” said John Butler, Honda Motor Americas President and CTO.

The NSX will be based on the Acuranas 2.5-liter inline-four engine, but it will use an all-new all-wheel drive system that combines the all-aluminum and magnesium alloys in its powertrain, with the latter contributing more torque.

The new Focus will have a top speed of more than 100 km/h (60 mph), and it will have an interior with leather and Alcantara.

The Acuras brand has become the fastest growing Japanese brand in the last decade.

Its sales have grown from 546 units in 2008 to 2,600 units in 2020, according to research firm Autotrader.

The focus on electric vehicles in the 2019 Tokyo Motor Summit, held the same year as the Acuuras unveiling, is likely due to the fact that the Japanese automakers have been expanding their range of electrified cars.

The automaker plans to announce a range of models and trim levels for the 2020 Tokyo Motor and the 2020 Shanghai Motor Shows in the next two weeks.

The Japanese automakers are also aiming to launch a range, of its electric sports cars at the Tokyo Motor show in late 2019.
